ProTeam Corvette Sales to Host NCRS Technical Seminar

On Saturday, November 8th our friends at ProTeam Corvette Sales will be hosting a Corvette Technical seminar along with the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS). This year’s topic will be Corvette’s Performance Evolution. The all-day seminar is open to both NCRS members and the general public. The $25 admission fee includes both breakfast and lunch.

The day’s activities will be broken down into 3 sessions.

Session 1 will cover the development and Evolution of Corvette Braking Systems. Topics to be discussed include Duntov’s efforts to address the braking challenges on the C1’s including the trials of disc brakes on C2’s as well as the experimental systems first installed on the Grand Sports. Also on the agenda is the development of the 1965 – 1982 disc brake system plus the release of Girlock brakes on the 4th generation Corvettes.

Session 2 will deal with Corvette’s plan to set a new 24 Hour Endurance Speed Record with the new C4 ZR-1. This session will begin with a brief walkthrough of the C4 ZR-1 as well as the development and planning required to break the existing record. The aforementioned record was set in the 1930s by Ab Jenkins driving the “Mormon Meteor” Duesenberg racer. Attendees will see actual video of the record setting run at Fort Stockton, Texas including discussions with those who participated in the project.

Session 3 will tackle aerodynamics on modern high performance vehicles. This portion of the day will take an in depth look at the challenges of minimizing aerodynamic drag while not adversely affecting high speed vehicle stability and handling. Things will start off with a general discussion of Corvette’s rich aerodynamic performance history then move on to some of the urban myths regarding aerodynamic drag.

Like past years, several notable panelists will be there to participate in the discussions. This year’s group includes:

  • Gary Cline — Mercruiser’s LT-5 Project Engineering Manager
  • Greg Fadler — Aerodynamic Engineering Manager
  • Darrolle Haugen — Delco Morraine Engineering Manager
  • John Heinracy — Corvette Hall of Famer and Development Manager
  • Tim Holland — Lotus Engineering Development and Calibration Manger
  • Gib Hufstader — LT-5 Coordinator
  • Dave McLellan — Former Corvette Chief Engineer and Hall of Fame Member
  • Jim Minneker — Corvette Powertrain Systems Engineer

Here’s a look at the day’s agenda:

  • 8am – 9am: Breakfast
  • 9am – 12pm: Morning seminars
  • 12pm-1pm: Lunch
