Transformers Customized 2006 Corvette a No Sale on eBay

One of the great things about the Corvette community is its appreciable tolerance of divergent viewpoints. Those who think the ultimate Corvette is a pristine Top Flight® award winner get along, at least for the most part, with those who think that a 1,000 horsepower in their modified Corvette is almost enough. If we accept this premise, then there must be Corvette fan somewhere who is also a Transformers aficionado and would love to have a modern, say a 2006, Corvette coupe that has been customized to pay homage to Autobot Sideswipe from the film Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Not only is our subject Corvette one of nine customized by Z & M Customs of Boise, Idaho to represent Sideswipe, but it is the only one, that’s right one of one, with an eye-catching two-tone paint job. There is no danger that others will be produced to lessen the exclusivity, as the General Motors legal team has put the kibosh on any further production.

The eBay seven-day auction ended on August 27, 2014 without the price of $30,900 being met. According to the seller, the car started life as a 2006 Corvette Coupe with the 3LT equipment package, having an automatic transmission with paddle shift, head-up display, heated seats, cruise control and an in-dash six-CD changer. Other extras, according to the eBay disclosure, include a “cold-air intake, electronic hood with dash switch, custom exhaust with Magnaflow mufflers and scuff plates”. The catalytic converters have been retained to get you through emissions inspection.

The seller, who is the second owner, indicates that the car has 59,900 miles and assures us that there is no damage to the frame or running gear. The car “drives, shifts, brakes and runs great.” He does note, however, that the car was assembled on a salvage Corvette and the title is a “Rebuilt, Rebuildable & Reconstructed” title. The original owner was in Florida and took delivery of the car in February of 2011. The car, now located in Rhode Island, is still registered in Florida.
