Win a New Corvette Stingray and Help a Great Charity

Our friend Mike Furman at Criswell Corvette gave us some info on a great fundraiser to help fight cancer, but he also wanted to tell us why this time it’s personal. Read on to find out how you can help the fight against cancer through The Patty Pollatos Fund and maybe win a new 2014 Corvette Stingray in the process.

Jim Sell was a longtime salesman at Criswell Chevrolet and was just 61 years young when he was diagnosed with brain cancer in August 2012. He passed away from the disease just a few short months later in October 2012. A former Washington D.C. police officer, Jim left the force 30 years ago after an on-the-job injury and went into the car business. Mike says he was everyone’s buddy.

If you saw the movie Borat, you may remember the scene where Borat goes car shopping? Here’s how Mike tells the story:

You may have seen the movie Borat… well that was my long time friend Jim Sell who handled a very difficult situation when Borat came to Criswell to film what he claimed was a documentary. Jim started showing Borat a Hummer but eventually he divulged he was looking to spend $500…so Borat ends up with an old ice cream truck. Borat the movie was released November 2006. Jim would always pose for pictures around the dealership with any customer that wished for a selfie with him.

Jim Sell and Borat

When Jim passed away in 2012, the folks at Criswell raised $15,000 for Jim’s wife and the Patty Pollatos organization matched it dollar for dollar.

The Patty Pollatos Fund was established in the memory of Patty Pollatos who passed away from cancer in 1992. The organization is a registered 501-C-3 charity and is 100% volunteer driven. The fund supports people and families in Maryland’s Frederick County and surrounding area.

The Patty Pollatos Fund was there to help Jim Sell’s family in their time of need and now Criswell Chevrolet is paying it forward so that the fund can continue its mission.

Criswell Chevrolet’s owner Harry Criswell has donated a Torch Red 1LT 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible in Jim’s memory to the PPF. The red Corvette Stingray will be raffled with just 1,000 tickets available for $100 each and the drawing for the Stingray will be held at the Frederick Fair Grounds on September 20th, 2014. You do not need to be present to win.

Tickets for the Corvette Stingray raffle can be ordered through the Patty Pollatos website. For check, cash or money orders, download the Corvette Stingray Raffle Order Form or for credit card purchases (Visa, MasterCard, Discover), use the online order form.

Cancer is a devastating disease that we hope will one day be wiped from the face of the Earth. But today, the Patty Pollatos organization needs your support to continue helping those in need. Your donation can make a huge difference in those that are helped by the fund.
