ProTeam to Host NCRS Technical Seminar

Once again our friends at ProTeam Corvette Sales will be hosting a NCRS Technical Seminar. This year’s event is coming up on November 9th and the main topic is “How Chevrolet’s Relentless Pursuit of HP Benefited Corvette”. The all-day session is co-sponsored by the Michigan and Heart of Ohio chapters of the National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS). NCRS membership isn’t required to attend and the cost is just $20 at the door. That admission fee also includes breakfast and lunch.

The day’s agenda includes various presentations by well-known Corvette enthusiasts, engineers, and insiders. Ken Kayser, (author, historian, and fuel injection guru) will talk about Zora Duntov’s clandestine efforts to push Chevrolet to the top of the horsepower wars during the 1950s and ’60s. Historian Al Grenning will cover development of the Mark IV big block engine. He’ll talk about the Chevrolet Engineering Center’s document trail which culminated in the monster L88 engine. Later, a panel discussion featuring Gib Hufstader, Tom Langdon, Denny Davis and others will give personal accounts about the birth of the L88 and ZL1 engines. They’ll also talk about a lightweight Corvette developed for the 1968 Long Lead Press Preview. A replica of that car including its 180 degree exhaust headers will be unveiled as well. Finally, former Corvette Chief Engineer and Hall of Famer Dave McLellan and Graham Behan will talk about development of the C4 ZR-1.

Some of the special cars on display will include a 1967 unrestored L88 Convertible with the OEM motor, 1968 James Garner Team AIR L88 Car #44, 1969 Greenwood BFG Stars & Stripes L88 Car #49, and a 1969 OEM ZL1 Motor.

The ProTeam NCRS Technical Seminar will take place at ProTeam Corvette Sales located at 1410 North Scott Street, Napoleon, OH 43545. Festivities get underway at 8:00am with coffee, juice and rolls. A catered lunch will be served from noon to 1pm. Admission $20 per person at the door. Be sure to RSVP by November 1st to [email protected].

Click here to download a PDF file about the event which includes nearby lodging options for those wishing to arrive in area the day before the event.

We attended last year’s seminar and we’ll be attending this year as well. These are great events where you get to hear about Corvette’s history from those who lived it. If you’re near ProTeam on November 9th be sure to make time to attend this event. In addition to the great discussion topics, there are all of the significant Corvettes on display as well as ProTeam’s always changing inventory to keep your eyes occupied throughout the day.
