More GM Docs Suggests 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe to have 455 HP and 460 lb.-ft Torque

Yesterday we filled you in on what we thought was a typo listing the official horsepower of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as 455 hp in the official press release naming 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh as the driver of the Corvette Stingray Indy 500 pace car.

Well, some more digging on GM’s media site has turned up two PDF documents which say the Corvette Stingray Coupe – both manual and automatic transmissions – will have 455 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft torque. The two PDFs for the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible – both manual and automatics – still list the estimated numbers of 450 hp and 450 lb.-ft torque.

The pdfs are located on Media.GM.com and are located under the right column which says “Fast Facts”. We already downloaded them and present them here as images for easy viewing:

As you can see, the offical numbers for Coupe’s horsepower and torque no longer have the (est) estimated tag next to them, but they are still there on the convertible pdfs. You’ll also see we are still waiting on the official EPA fuel economy rating as well as numbers for the Max Cargo Room, Fuel Tank and Front and Rear Track. Not on this document is the final curb weight numbers which are estimated to be 3,298 pounds.

While some have expressed disappointment in the numbers, it reminds us of when the 2006 Corvette Z06 first had its LS7 estimated at 500 hp and the final number ended up at 505 hp. As a positive note, it seems that GM may be leaving some of those horses on the table which a good tuner should be able to wrangle.

UPDATE
Now you see them, now you don’t! Those PDFs that show the 455 HP and 460 lbs-ft Torque have been taken down and replaced with those that have the 450 HP (estimated) and 450 lbs-ft. Torque (estimated).
