First Retail 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible to be Auctioned at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach

Earlier today Chevrolet announced the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible would be revealed in Geneva on March 5th. We also learned that when the new Stingray Convertible returns to the States, one of the first visits will be the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Palm Beach. It is there that we will witness Rick Hendrick buying up the auction of the very first retail VIN Convertible with the proceeds going once again to charity.

We joke about Rick Hendrick “buying up everything”, but the truth is he has made more non-profits smile in the last few years with his generous purchases. Now he’ll have the opportunity to bookend his VIN #0001 2014 Corvette Stingray Coupe with the very first VIN #0001 Convertible. It’s a car collector’s dream!

It’s hard to say if the first Stingray Convertible will fetch the $1.05 million that Hendrick paid for the Coupe in Scottsdale. That sale benefited the College for Creative Studies in Detroit.

The proceeds from the sale of the first Corvette Stingray Convertible will go to the Michigan-based Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute. Chevrolet describes the Institute as “a unique, urban-based integrated center of research, patient care and education, dedicated to the prevention, early detection, treatment and eventual eradication of cancer.”

The Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction will be held April 4-6th at the South Florida Fairgrounds in Palm Beach, FL. We’ll have more details about the auction, lot and schedule when they become available.
