[VIDEO] 1972 Corvette Runs the AutoCross at Goodguys PPG Nationals

One of the largest custom auto shows of the year was recently put on by the Goodguys Rod and Custom Association. The Goodguys PPG Nationals three day extravaganza held July 6th-8th at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus attracted thousands of cars and over 100,000 enthusiasts.

One of the main attractions of the event is the Goodguys AutoCross competition and we are glad to hear that a Corvette finished 1st in the Street Machine class.

This blue 1972 Corvette is owned by Danny Popp of Cincinnati, but what caught our eye initially was that one of the sponsor’s stickers on the car is from Van Steel, a Clearwater FL-based company that specializes in suspension and brake parts. As we are friends with the guys over there (Art Dorsett actually painted my 1966 Corvette), we inquired about it and they told us that Popp’s Corvette was outfitted with a complete set of coilovers from Vansteel.

The ’72 Corvette also runs on a set of Forgeline Wheels. In the picture above, you can see the C3 Vette on Forgeline GA3Rs, 18×11.5 front/18×12.5 rear, with titanium centers & polished outers.

Here is the video of Popps running his ’72 Corvette effortlessly around the AutoCross course at the Goodguys PPG Nationals:

The next Goodguys event is the 25th Pacific Northwest Nationals presented by Wesco Autobody Supply. It will be held July 27-29, 2012. Details and registation information can be found at Good-guys.com.
