We’re still nursing our Bloomington Gold hangover, but it’s already time to start marking up the calendar for another big-time Corvette event. Mid America Motorworks is hosting their 19th annual Corvette Funfest at their sprawling 150 acre facility in Effingham, Illinois on September 13th – 16th, 2012. Roughly 15,000 Corvettes and 40,000 enthusiasts are expected to be present at the 4-day extravaganza.
This year Funfest is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the iconic 1963 Corvette Sting Ray. The 50 year old C2’s will have their own designated parking area throughout the weekend.
Funfest gets underway on Thursday, September 13th with the Fun Run Road Tour from Mid America’s HQ to downtown Effingham for an evening street party. On Friday the 14th they’ll have a screening of The Quest. Lance Miller, producer Michael Brown, and Mid America’s Mike Yager will all be in attendance. Later that evening there will be a black-tie optional cocktail party to help raise funds for the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation and Trail Recreation Effingham County. The Saturday night concert returns for 2012 as well, although the act has not yet been announced.
Other activities throughout the weekend include seminars, Corvette upgrades in the Install Dome, lifestyle goodies in the Fun Dome, a 5K run/walk, celebrity Corvette judging, a fashion show, and GM Kids in Corvettes.
Mid America also announced that the Funfest commemorative cups will be making a return appearance courtesy of co-sponsor Pepsi and will have ’63 Corvette theme. Keep your cup handy for free refills all weekend. This year’s preregistration gift is a collector guitar lapel pin in either orange or black, but you can only get one by pre-registering for Funfest.
Mid America Motorworks’ 2012 Corvette Funfest runs September 13th – 16th. It’s sure to be an action packed weekend as always so get your registrations in early.
