Corvette Wins Even The Most Dubious Awards

As the saying goes, “When you’re hot, you’re hot”. Corvette is so hot right now, its racking up awards for categories that seem to come straight from a David Letterman Top 10 list. With the two latest wins for Corvette, we’re just wondering “who in their right mind is making this stuff up?” In the end we became inspired to hand out our own award for the most bogus use of Corvette as a prop. We planned to call it the Delaminated Roof Award but instead just refer to them as the Roofies. Our first Roofie goes out to a deodorant giant. A survey of 1,000 men over the age of 18 was sponsored by Right Guard, the deodorant brand that according to their press release is “legendary among U.S. males”. One of the questions was “Cars So Hot They Make You Sweat!” The results:

Five percent of the sample, fifty people, actually said “Don’t know”. I can see someone answering “None of the Above”, but saying don’t know even after being prompted for the answers… The winner of our second Roofie award goes to Forbes Autos. In their pictorial essay entitled “In Pictures: Sexiest Luxury Cars“, Forbes Autos labels the Chevrolet Corvette Convertible as the “Sexiest Car for Newly Divorced Dads”. I’m not parsing words, but they said Dads, not Men:

Prince sung about it. Diddy has said the way to meet women is to put on a white T-shirt and drive around in one. The Corvette convertible is just the dose of self-esteem a newly divorced dad needs. And with its 400-horsepower, V-8 engine, it’s still one of the most fun cars to drive.

Corvette owners are still trying to shed the gold chain wearing, mid-life crises stereotype and along comes Forbes Autos putting it all into perspective for us. The Dad, you see, lacks self-esteem because SHE left him, hence he goes out and gets a Corvette to offset his little dick low self-esteem. In the end its all good because if Dad can still afford a $50K Corvette convertible, he obviously got the better end of the deal.
