Correction: Gus Grissom Corvette Sold for $275,000

Just a quick note to explain our correction on the price that was fetched when Gus Grissom’s 1967 Red Corvette Convertible was sold last weekend at the Russo and Steele Auction in Scottsdale. Earlier this week I called the offices of Russo and Steele and spoke with a representative. I inquired about the price the Grissom Corvette sold for and sales figure I was given was $232,500. I asked a few more questions about the sale and the presentation, and then posted our account of the sale. When reviewing the Russo and Steele results list of the Scottsdale auction, the Final Bid price for the Grissom Corvette was listed at $275,000. I called their offices on Thursday for clarification and was told that the amount we were originally provided was actually the “potential” amount the seller received after the seller’s commission was factored. The actual gavel price was $250,000 and with a buyer’s commission of 10%, the total sales price amounted to $275,000. I apologize for any confusion.
