Barrett-Jackson: Good Buy 1966 427/425 Corvette

When watching the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, we often see Corvettes being sold at the high end of the pricing spectrum or even beyond (Pluto anyone!). But often, there are some very good deals that go unnoticed, and I think this Corvette belongs in the “Good-Buy” category. This Matching-Numbers 1966 Nassau Blue Corvette Coupe (Lot #1011.1) features an L72 427 ci 425 hp big block engine coupled to an M21 4-Speed Transmission. Comfort options include Power Brakes, Power Windows and Telescopic Steering Wheel Column. Finally, Knock-Off Wheels with Gold Line Tires and Side Exhaust complete the options. The car is being sold by Dave Ressler, a dealer and major car collector, who is shown taking the family photo during the bidding. I do believe that it was Dave that purchased the #003 53 Corvette that sold at last year’s auction for $1 million. But I digress… Purchasing the 1966 Corvette Coupe was ProTeam Corvette’s Terry Michaelis. A review of the ProTeam Corvette website shows pricing for comparable L72 Condition 2 Corvettes starting in the $90,000 range and Condition 1 Corvettes as high as $169,000. Terry is a major Corvette buyer and obviously knows when to hold them and when to fold them. It will be interesting to see where the price will be set for this Coupe once he gets it back to Ohio.

Saturday night is when we’ll see the major action including ProTeam selling The Last Corvette. Check it out on Speed. But don’t worry if you miss it. We’ll have the details here.
