On the second day of the 2007 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, a 1958 Corvette Convertible rolled onto the block and set the high sales price for Corvettes at $150.000. With commissions added, the total selling price was $165,000. That set the daily high sale as well. While it’s nice to see a C1 Corvette at the top of the list, we don’t expect this Corvette to be there long. The ’58 Corvette (Lot #438) is Panama Yellow with Charcoal interior. It features a 283 ci engine with the 2×4 Carburetors for 245 horsepower. It has the fairly rare RPO 473 Power Operated Folding Top which is demonstrated in the video. Fully restored with just 9 miles since completion. Bidding for the Corvette ramped up very quickly. Opening bid was $10,000 before jumping up to $70,000 and then $120,000. ProTeam’s Terry Michaelis dropped out of the bidding at $140,000. The final bid of $150,000 was enough to win. Add the 10% buyers commission and the total sales price jumps to $165,000.
